Operation Sindoor: India has strengthened its offensive and defensive dominance over the past 72 hours by shooting down enemy fighter jets and repelling two rounds of drone and missile attacks by Pakistan.
New Delhi: India’s auxiliary military force,the Territorial Army,has 32 infantry battalions. The Defence Ministry activated 14 of these battalions on Friday for deployment around the nation until 2028.
According to insiders who spoke to NDTV, the Territorial Army is being called upon for “heightened readiness and strategic reinforcement.” The directive comes as India and Pakistan’s military tensions over the Pahalgam terror assault are quickly rising, according to the ministry’s Department of Military Affairs.

Man-to-man Compared to the Pakistani army, India has a clear advantage.
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute estimates that India has over 16 lakh paramilitary members and over 14.75 lakh active military soldiers. In contrast, Pakistan has 2.9 lakh paramilitary members and fewer than seven lakh active military soldiers.
According to the SIPRI assessment, India also possesses more helicopters, armored battle vehicles, artillery, and fixed-wing aircraft, including fighter jets.
Driven by decades of tension over border disputes, the two nuclear-armed nations are getting closer to full-scale confrontation as they engage in a game of “top trumps” employing their military resources.

India’s first military response to the Pahalgam incident,in which terrorists killed 26 people,was Operation Sindoor,a tri-services military operation that was the first since the war with Pakistan in 1971.
India claims to have evidence of Pakistan’s role in the Pahalgam and other terror attacks that have targeted its territory and citizens as well as those of other countries,such as the London bombings in 2005.
India’s accusation has been refuted by Pakistan,which has demanded an impartial international investigation.
However,during a news briefing Thursday evening,Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri described India’s ongoing backing of terrorism,dissecting Islamabad’s assertions.
