Stock market holiday: According to the NSE and BSE calendars, the Indian stock market will be closed on March 31, 2025, in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr. The commodity derivatives section will open later that day.
Stock market holiday: Amid growing worries about the economic effects of US President Donald Trump’s tariff actions, the Indian stock market ended the fiscal year 2024–2025 (FY25) with a 5% gain. Following five months of losses, the index increased in March as a result of strengthening macroeconomic data and the return of foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) to the Indian market.
Even though the market is still a little cautious, merchants, investors, and other Indians are getting ready for Eid. There seems to be some misunderstanding,though,regarding whether Monday, March 31,or April 1 will see the closure of the Indian stock market. This is because,depending on when the crescent moon is sighted,India will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on either March 31 or April 1.
The two stock exchanges in the nation,the NSE and the BSE,have already published their holiday schedules for the current year,so traders and investors shouldn’t be confused.

Eid-ul-Fitr stock market holiday :
On Monday, March 31,2025,the Indian stock market will be closed for Eid-ul-Fitr. The BSE and NSE holiday calendars indicate that on March 31, 2025, these two stock exchanges will be closed in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr.
On March 31, the currency derivatives segment as well as the stock market will close.
The commodity derivatives section, on the other hand, will be closed in the morning but open in the evening, starting at 5 PM and staying open until 11:30 or 11:55 PM.
Holidays in the stock market in 2025 :
In 2025,there will be 14 holidays for the Indian stock market. Holidays for Holi (March 14) and Mahashivratri (February 26) have been observed thus far.
Eid is on March 31st,and there will be three holidays in April: Good Friday on Friday, April 18,Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti on Monday,April 14,and Shri Mahavir Jayanti on Thursday,April 10.
Thursday,May 1,is Maharashtra Day, the only holiday in May. The country will commemorate India’s 79th Independence Day on Friday,August 15, which will be followed by a holiday on Wednesday,August 27,in honor of Shri Ganesh Chaturthi.
Three holidays fall during the month of October: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra on Thursday,Diwali on Tuesday,and Diwali Balipratipada on Wednesday.
Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev will have a market holiday on Wednesday,November 5.Thursday,December 25,is Christmas,the year’s last holiday.
