Investors are still unsure about whether they should wait for further information regarding this ongoing bull-bear recess or take advantage of this dip as a bottom-fishing opportunity when the market reopens next week. Some market watchers and investors may be unsure if trading will resume on Monday or if it will be a stock market holiday because Buddha Purnima 2025 is being observed nationwide on May 12, 2025, which is Monday of next week.

On Friday, May 9, frontline indexes, the Sensex, the Nifty 50, and the Bank Nifty continued to lose for a second straight day as investors remained cautious due to growing tensions between India and Pakistan and the ensuing uncertainties.

The Sensex fell 880 points,or 1.10 percent,to close at 79,454.47. At 24,008,the Nifty 50 was down 266 points,or 1.10 percent,for the day. However,the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices did better,dropping just 0.10 and 0.30 percent,respectively.

Investors lost over ₹2 lakh crore in a single session as the total market capitalization of BSE-listed companies fell to almost ₹416.8 lakh crore from ₹418.50 lakh crore in the previous session.

The BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 both experienced weekly declines of 1.30 and 1.40 percent,respectively, ending their three-week winning streaks.
