Hyderabad forest news: The Kancha Gachibowli forest has seen more than fifty bulldozers tearing down trees and other plants since April 30. The Telangana government’s action has destroyed the habitat of numerous plant and animal species.
Videos of the insensitive destruction of a 400-acre forest in Hyderabad have gone viral on social media. As their house is demolished, a number of birds, including peacocks, can be heard wailing in pain. Students from the University of Hyderabad are protesting the Revanth Reddy government on the streets after the administration’s drastic decision to clear the Kancha Gachibowli forest. It has been reported that the government is clearing the forest to build an IT park nearby.
On Thursday,the Supreme Court finally put an end to deforestation and mandated that no further trees be cut down until further notice. More than 400 trees have already been destroyed. The satellite photos taken on April 2 and March 28 demonstrate how quickly forested terrain may be cleared in a matter of days.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court took suo-moto notice of the deforestation and ruled that no more trees could be cut down until further directives were given. After reading the newspaper article about extensive tree cutting at the location,a bench of Justices BR Gavai and AG Masih requested that the Telangana High Court’s Registrar (Judicial) immediately visit the site and provide an interim report by Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
