As safe-haven demand was impacted by the lessening of US-China trade hostilities,international gold prices also fell by more than 1% on Monday.

Due to pressure on demand, gold became more costly for buyers in other currencies as the US dollar index increased by almost 0.3%.

US President Donald Trump reportedly stated that the US administration was negotiating a favorable trade agreement with China.

However,Trump stated that he would not entertain lowering tariffs on China until a significant compromise was made.

Some US products were released from China’s high tariffs on Friday,but China swiftly disproved Trump’s claim that talks were in progress, according to Reuters.

Investors’ expectations for the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate trajectory will be shaped by the US job openings report on Tuesday, personal consumption expenditures on Wednesday, and the non-farm payrolls report on Friday, in addition to trade war-related news flows.
