A specific avalanche warning has been issued for the Central Rockies through Monday due to dangerous conditions.
The warning, which applies to Kananaskis Country and the National Parks of Banff, Yoho, Kootenay, and Jasper, was issued late Thursday by Avalanche Canada.
The organization issued a warning that the hazardous conditions might also exist in places that are close to those locations.
Over the past two weeks,a number of very large avalanches have been created by recent storm snow that sits on top of a weak snowpack structure.
According to the warning, avalanches that were caused by this layer have spread far, including across wooded areas, and might affect the whole depth of the snowpack.

“This period has seen a number of significant avalanche accidents, including two fatalities. Although natural avalanche activity is slowing down, the snowpack is still ready for human-caused avalanches.
Additionally, slides might be remotely triggered, which means they could be started from a distance, according to Avalanche Canada.
The risk is also predicted to rise with warming, sunshine, and stormy weather.
Up to 90 cm of storm snow has covered weak strata, primarily made up of faceted snow, and another 15 cm is predicted by the weekend, the warning stated.
“This snow will cause slabs to form over the weak layers, causing the situation to remain unstable and extremely volatile.”
Anyone going into the wilderness should be aware of the hazardous circumstances and stay on low-angle terrain free of overhead hazards and terrain traps, according to Avalanche Canada.
Before heading into the wilderness, anyone should verify the local forecast, be well educated, have the appropriate rescue gear, and know how to utilize it.
