On Tuesday (February 11, 2025), the National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned them on February 17 after expressing grave concern over the disparaging remarks made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia and others on the comedy show “India’s Got Latent.”
The disrespectful and filthy comments made by the show’s producers, Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, as well as content developers, Allahabadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchlani, have been taken seriously by the commission.
“These remarks, which have caused a great deal of public indignation, are a violation of the dignity and respect that each and every person deserves, especially in a culture that values equality and respect for one another. A hearing to discuss the content makers’ contentious statement on India’s Got Latent has been arranged in response to this concern, per NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar’s directives, the NCW stated in a statement.
Before the commission, the women’s body has requested that they attend in person. According to the statement, the hearing would be held at the NCW office in New Delhi on February 17 at 12 p.m.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, NCW chairman Vijaya Rahatkar, in the meantime, said that rules should be put in place to govern material on these social media platforms.
