What caused the fire?
Zodiac Maritime, the manager, told Bloomberg News that smoke was initially seen emanating from an electrical vehicle deck. Approximately 800 of the ship’s 3,000 cars were electric. The management went on to say that the sinking on June 23 was caused by severe weather and subsequent water intrusion, which further increased the fire’s damage.
According to US Coast Guard spokeswoman Petty Officer Cameron Snell, who is stationed in Alaska, “there is no visible pollution,” he told AP. He continued,”At this time,we also have vessels on scene to respond to any pollution.”
The delivery of the ship carrying the 3,000 new cars was planned for a major Mexican port in the Pacific.Whether the cars were taken out prior to the ship sinking is still unknown.

How did the crew members fare?
There were twenty-two crew members aboard the Morning Midas. A nearby merchant vessel rescued them all and transported them to a lifeboat. There were no reported injuries.
A few days after the fire had wrecked the ship, the salvage crew showed up. Two salvage tugs with pollution control equipment will stay on the scene to keep an eye out for any debris or pollution, the business said. These ships’crews were uninjured when the Morning Midas sank, according to the Associated Press. The business is also deploying a second pollution response vessel as a precaution.
A fire on the Morning Midas, about 300 miles (490 km) southwest of Adak Island, prompted the Coast Guard to issue a distress notice on June 3.
