On Thursday, Kash Patel, a strong ally of Donald Trump, was officially confirmed as the director of the FBI. He pledged to transform the organization into one in which Americans could be proud.
Following the Senate’s confirmation of Indian-origin Kash Patel as FBI director on Thursday, he warned that the FBI will now “hunt you down in every corner of this planet” if someone tries to “harm America.”
After being confirmed, Patel thanked everyone and promised to make the FBI a more “transparent, accountable, and committed to justice” organization. He emphasized his commitment to rebuilding public confidence in the FBI and thanked Attorney General Pam Bondi and President Donald Trump for their support.
“I am thrilled to have been confirmed as the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s ninth director. We appreciate the steadfast trust and support of Attorney General Bondi and President Trump. From protecting our country after 9/11 to the “G-Men,” the FBI has a rich history. The American people are entitled to an FBI that is open, responsible, and dedicated to upholding the law. Public trust has been damaged by the politicalization of our legal system, but that will stop today, Patel wrote on X.
“As Director, I have a clear mission.”
Following his appointment as FBI director, Kash Patel presented his goals for the organization, emphasizing the importance of reestablishing confidence and assisting law enforcement. “As Director, my goal is to restore public confidence in the FBI by letting good cops be cops. Together with our partners and the hardworking men and women of the Bureau, we will rebuild an FBI of which the American people can be proud. And take this as your warning to those who would do harm to Americans. We’re going to find you everywhere on Earth. First mission. America Always. Patel stated, “Let’s get to work.”
The Senate approved Patel as the new director of the FBI on Thursday. Patel is a close ally of President Donald Trump. He promised to make the agency a source of pride for Americans.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who had previously opposed other Trump nominations, and Republican Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine opposed his candidacy, but he gained the support of the remainder of the Republican Party.

The Senate Democrats voted against him, and the confirmation was approved by a slim 51-49 majority.
With resounding Republican backing, Patel successfully navigated a significant procedural obstacle earlier this week. According to The New York Post, the Senate advanced his nomination Tuesday by a party-line vote of 48-45, sparking a 30-hour discussion before the ultimate ratification on Thursday.
