Important readings on business profits and the economy are scheduled for the upcoming week. Investors will have a better idea of how U.S. consumers are doing when Home Depot and Lowe’s release their earnings reports on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Given that the chipmaker with ties to artificial intelligence is still among the largest stocks by market capitalization, Nvidia’s earnings release on Wednesday night could have an even greater impact.

“It’s definitely one of the top things that the markets will be looking at [this] week. They really want to see whether the DeepSeek news… is solid in terms of disrupting these types of companies’ margins in the future,” said Lale Akoner, global market analyst at eToro. The Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation, the personal consumption expenditures index, will be released on Friday. The fall in stocks last week was caused by fresh worries about U.S. economic growth, but all market indexes are still within 4% of their record highs.
