At 5:36 a.m., the National Centre for Seismology reported that the earthquake had occurred five kilometers below the surface. According to the official, there was a loud noise and 35 seconds of shakes when the earthquake struck Delhi-NCR.

The shallow depth of the earthquake might have caused the rumbling sound that was experienced during the event. It might have resulted from many energy explosions and tectonic plate movement.

After feeling the powerful tremors, several individuals fled their homes in fear. On social media, videos of fans trembling and people standing outside their homes during the earthquake went viral. Reports of injuries or damage were not immediately available.

Every two to three years, low-magnitude earthquakes have been occurring in the Dhaula Kuan area, which is close to a lake. According to the authorities, it reported an earthquake in 2015 with a magnitude of 3.3.

“Minor earthquakes have been occurring in Delhi. The location of this earthquake was Dhaula Kuan. There had been an earthquake there in 2006 with a magnitude of 4.6. There is no need for concern. There is a seismic zone. There will be a 1.2 magnitude aftershock following the 4.0 magnitude earthquake. Dr. OP Mishra, Director of the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), told news agency ANI that it is normal since it will heal it.

According to him, there have been 420 shallow earthquakes in the Dhaula Kuan region, but the national capital has been safe from them for a number of years.

During the earthquake, neither the Delhi Police nor the Delhi Fire Service received any calls regarding adverse situations.
