The Gift Nifty patterns also suggest that the Indian benchmark index is off to a slow start. The Gift Nifty was trading at a premium of 8.2 points over the previous closing of the Nifty futures,at about 25,567.
Due to a sell-off in oil and gas and IT equities, as well as mixed global trends and investor apprehension ahead of earnings season,stock markets closed the day lower on Wednesday.
The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 83,536.08,down 176.43 points, or 0.21%. At its lowest position of 83,382.28 during the day,it fell 330.23 points,or 0.39%.The Nifty 50 ended the day at 25,476.10,down 46.40 points, or 0.18%.
